About

Made by hand
since 2013.

You deal with me from the first email to handoff, and after it. Nobody turns your requirements into a ticket.

[PORTRAIT: JOSE RODRÍGUEZ,
STUDIO OR DESK SHOT]

Hi, I’m Jose.

I’m Jose Eduardo Rodríguez Romero, a senior front-end and WordPress developer. JR Studio is the name I put on that work. It is a studio rather than an agency, because it is honest about who shows up: me.

I have been publishing premium templates on ThemeForest since 2013, where I have 14 published templates and more than 340 licenses sold. Alongside that, I’ve spent over six years as the remote developer inside a US agency’s team, building and maintaining the WordPress sites their clients’ businesses run on.

The rest of my time goes into products of my own: Sockergo, a World Cup prediction platform, and Thrymo, a personal finance app. Building things I have to support myself has made me a better developer for clients: you learn fast what “maintainable” really means when you are the one maintaining it.

If you want the formal version: LinkedIn and ThemeForest.

The short version

How it went.

  1. 2013
    First template on ThemeForest

The start of thirteen years of designing, building, documenting and supporting commercial templates.

  2. 2019
    Inside a US agency

The WordPress developer inside a US agency’s team: client sites, migrations and maintenance, on their schedule.

  3. 2026
JR Studio, and products of my own

Client work under the studio name, Sockergo and Thrymo in the open, and Figma a Código, a book for developers.

How I work

Four habits
I don’t bend on.

01
No page builders

Custom themes written by hand, with ACF for the editing experience. Your site stays fast, and it doesn’t stop working the day a plugin changes its licensing.

02
Performance is part of the build

Core Web Vitals get measured before handoff, not after a client complains. Animation is welcome; paying for it with your LCP is not.

03
A readable history

Git with conventional commits, Kinsta for staging, DevKinsta locally. When someone inherits the project, the log tells them what happened and why.

04
Documentation as a deliverable

Thirteen years of supporting template buyers taught me that the docs are the product too. Every project ships with instructions a stranger can follow.

what you need.

I take on a small number of projects at a time, which is the only way a studio of one stays worth hiring.
